summer holidays

Hi in today's blog I'm going to talk about what I might do in the next summer vacations.
This year in the university the strike affected the date of the start of our vacation, so we are going to be finishing this year near to christmas, and even some of us maybe will have exams until december 30.
This changes a lot my plans because I wanted to spend christmas with my family in Copiapó, so now I think I might be traveling there for new year to celebrate with my family and my friends. For the past years during new year eve I go to the beach with my friends and celebrate there, so that is how my vacation are going to start. I will be staying there a week or two, in the beaches that are near to Copiapo like Bahía Inglesa or Caldera because I really like to be there is very relaxing and I always have a great time there.

That it's the only thing that I know for sure that I'm going to do this summer holidays because I haven't plan any trip so I think that because of that I won't be traveling outside of the country.
A place that I would like to go this year is the south of Chile because is a beautiful destination, I would go with my cousins because we had talked about making a trip to the south all this year. We haven't talked about the cities that we might go but I think some of the more known like Pucón, Valdivia, or Puerto Varas, also a place that we have always wanted to go to is Torres del Paine and  make like a tour in a ship to see glaciers.

How to survive to SDLE

Hi in this blog I'm going to talk about the week of the school. SDLE is the celebration of the anniversary of our dental school.
This happens on the first week of september and there are competitions among all of the generations of students of dentistry
This week is known for being very wild and distorted because in order to win the students in some competitions do the craziest things you can imagine

The past september was my first time living this experience so I'm going to write some tips that I think are necessary to do to survive this week

The first thing is to moderate the amount of drinking you are going to do. I think this is the key to survive because the majority of the wild things that people do, they do it because they are very drunk and they won’t care if people see them.

Another advice is to try to stay with a group of friends during the days of this week because you can have a better time being surrounded by more people and if you are going to stay until the end of the day you won’t have to go back to your home alone because the majority of the days of this week end late in the afternoon when it’s dark. Also they can take care of you if you get too drunk.

In conclusion all you have to do is have a great time with your friends, try to not to black out because this is a week to be remembered.

Here in the university a lot of teachers have told us in classes that in the future it will be kind of difficult to find a job as a dentist because there are a lot of universities that have this career, so every year thousands of students become dentist and the laboral field will be very low.

This is one of the reasons of why I think that I must to specialize a few years later after I fisnish this career.

The first speciality that came to my mind when I thought of this before I entered to the university was to study orthodontics because when I was younger I had braces and I found that it was very interesting, but now that I know more about it and I have been able to know more specialities there is one of them that calls more my attention, its periodontics.

Periodontics is a speciality that studies the structures that support the teeth, like the gum of the mouth, and treats the diseases that affect them.

This speciality treats diseases like periodontitis and gingivitis, that affect a lot of people all over the world and even sometimes makes them to lose their teeth, that is why I find this career so interesting, I will be able to help a lot of people, to improve their quality of life and even to improve their self confidence.

I want to do the specialitation here in this univerisity but all of the specializations of the dentistry career are very expensive and I don't know very well how is the sistem to enter to one of them, but I see it so far away because I have a lot of years to finish this career first and in the future I will find out what I will do.

The decision of studying dentistry was very clear to me since I started high school, today I picture myself doing that job for sure, but when I was little my dream job was veterinary. 

I would love to do that now too because I love animals and I'd love to help all kind of them,  if I could study two different things in my life I would but I think that is just too much,  so for now I will just  focus on try to accomplish finishing this career.

When I imagine myself in the future working as a dentist a lot of things come to my mind, maybe the firsts years of working I'd prefer to do it in the public system, I really don't know how the shifts and schedule are in there but I think that I need to start working that way to see the reality of the majority of people here in Chile have , definitely I wouldn't work here in Santiago because I want that the city could be more quiet and less stressful, I imagine a place in the south of Chile because I want something different to the places I have lived in.

Then I would like to specialize from general dentist to some other speciality but that part I don't have it very clear yet, so I think that I will decide that later.

If anyone asks me now where I see myself in ten years from now I would say that I will be working as a dentist in a clinic and I hope my schedule won't be so tiring because I want to have like a free schedule maybe I can do that if I get my own clinic but I see that as a very far option, and also not to leave me childhood dream behind I'd love to contribute to some animal's fundations that allow me to be around with animals that need help.

When I was in school I used to do a lot of excercise as a hobby, I was in the volleyball team and somedays of the week I used to go running with my sister. I used to enyoy doing that a lot because it helped me to distract my mind from the school work and all the PSU's study

 This year I haven't had enough time to do all the things that I enjoyed doing.

When I entered to the university I stopped doing like atletics stuff because I got really busy with the study  of the classes. Also I couldn't go out running because I didn't know good places to run here in Santiago that were near to my aparment and my running partner is living in Copiapó.

This year the things that I do for fun have changed a lot because I don't have the same time that I had before

This semester I started to go to the gym here in the faculty, so I think that is the thing that I do now to distract myself.

Another hobby that I still do a lot is to watch some TV show, now I don't do it as much as I used to but I still watch my favorites ones that are still on air like Game of Thrones and Grey's anatomy. 

I would like to have more time to do more things because I think it is neccesary to have an unstressed life. Maybe the problem I have is with the organization of my activities so I hope I'll fix that in the future.

holiday

Hi I'm Monica Rojas and I'm going to talk about a concert that I attended this year.
The band I went to see was Maroon 5, they performed in Movistar Arena, here in Santiago on the beggining of this year. It was my first day of class here in college but i didn`t assist because I wasn`t staying at my house and I didn`t know how to get to the faculty from my cousin's house.
I went to the concert with my little sister and my cousin, her name is Fernanda and she had the idea of attending to the show.
Maroon 5 is an american pop band and their vocalist is Adam Levine. The band was created in 1994 so we started to listen to them since we were very young.

The concert started at 9 o'clock and we got there around five because we knew that there was going to be a big line to enter to the place and we didn't want to have a bad spot to see the band.
We had to wait a long time to enter to Movistar Arena, and when we finally entered we had to wait standing or sitting on the floor because we bought the cheapest ticket so there was no sits, but the spot that we got was good because we were close to the stage.
The concert didn't have a warm up band, so they came into to the stage at around 9:30 and started to perform.
The best part of the show was when they started playing their old songs, which are my favorites and all of the public became really excited.
This concert was special for us because we used to listen to Maroon 5 since we were very little, so the songs brought out a lot of memories from our childhood so we enjoyed it a lot.

A country I'd like to visit

Hi I'm Mónica Rojas and I would like to visit the Hawaiian Islands. These are a group of islands in the north of Polinesia , in the Pacific Ocean.
The first reason that makes me want  to go there are the beaches, because they are beautiful, the water is very clear and there are a lot of marine animals in the ocean to watch like whales, dolphins and sea tourtles, I'd love to do scuba diving to see them .
I know that the  weather in there is very tropical and I really like that because I'm not a fan of cold weathers, I like the idea of being in the beach in a hot day with friends or my family.

There is an island in Hawaii that is called Oahu. In that island there is a hiking trail called the Haiku Stairs, also known as Stairway to Heaven. It's a super tall mountain, and to reach to the top you have to follow a trail of stairs. I think that climb that mountain would be a wonderfull experience. I have seen pictures of it and the view it's amazing so I imagine myself reaching to the top and seeing the island from above.

I think that the Hawaiian Islands are an amazing  place to go on your vacations and I would love to live there because they are very beautiful, but I don't see myself living there right now, maybe when I finish my studies I can go there to work a few years but not as a ultimate place to live my whole life.
